AN ACT TO PROVIDE A SALARY SUPPLEMENT FOR INVENTORY CONTROL CLERKS, PURCHASE CLERKS AND RECEIVING CLERKS UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF BASIC EDUCATION COURSES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) When any inventory control clerk, purchase clerk or receiving clerk attends and successfully completes the basic training course for such clerk's position, the clerk shall receive an additional One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00) annually to be paid monthly beginning with the first full month after completing the course. Such clerks shall be eligible to receive this supplement three (3) times but no sooner than once every four (4) years. The courses must be completed within one (1) year of beginning employment in the respective position.

(2) The provisions of subsection (1) shall apply only for inventory clerks, purchase clerks and receiving clerks. A deputy clerk or a chancery clerk who may be serving in one (1) of the above listed capacities shall not be eligible to receive the salary supplement.

(3) In order to receive the salary supplement provided in this section, the clerk shall present certification of successful completion of the applicable course.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after October 1, 1999.
